Dance has been Iovana's passion since she was a child which prompted her to train in contemporary, jazz and afro-contemporary back in her home country Colombia. She was introduced to Pilates as a part of her dance training, seeking muscle and body strength, and the possibility to overcome a few injuries. After starting her Pilates Foundation UK teacher training, she discovered how Pilates can be used to protect your body, to improve your body awareness and sense of balance.
Fifteen years of movement experience along with her dance teaching and her training with Pilates Foundation, have given Iovana a broad understanding of human anatomy that allows her to design a comprehensive and bespoke exercise program for each client.
“Pilates has not just been the path to overcome my old injuries, it has also kept my body strong, healthy and free of pain. If I can pass my experience on to other people, I will be very happy.”
Iovana has taught South London Pilates for 5 years since arriving in the UK. Having lived in Brixton for most of this time she has played a key role in establishing Body Alliance and offering Brixton Pilates that until now has been absent.
